Proving that renewable energy reduces electricity costs – and can make Pennsylvanians energy independent.
Background
If there's one thing most Pennsylvanians can agree on, it's that their electric bills are too high. Electricity costs have skyrocketed over the past five years, rising on average by 46 percent since 2018.
This dramatic spike in costs is largely due to soaring energy demand, paired with stagnant energy supply.
This means Pennsylvania must increase our energy supply to keep costs down – and the cheapest and fastest type of energy to deploy is renewable energy, namely solar and energy efficiency.
However, most Pennsylvanians are not aware of the benefits and cost savings of renewable energy. That's where Energy Independence for PA and our Energy Leaders come in.
What is Energy Independence for PA?
Energy Independence for PA is a campaign run by the PA Solar Center and Solar United Neighbors that will train about 100 volunteers across Pennsylvania over the next six months to become Energy Leaders so they can communicate the benefits of renewable energy to their communities.
What is an Energy Leader?
Energy Leaders are volunteers who will promote the cost-saving benefits of renewable energy to their communities, from making presentations at town hall meetings, zoning board hearings, libraries, Rotary Clubs, and more, to posting on social media and calling their legislators and elected officials.
